About Us
After having bumbled and stumbled our way through various adventures while in pursuit of the perfect marine aquarium, we thought it would be a good thing to help the community by putting our own experiences out there for others to see. We don’t claim to be experts, in fact the opposite. But speaking to the experts reveals a world of differing opinions, too, so the best we can do for our audience is to share our experiences.
The trouble with the reef aquarium thing is that it is a hobby for many people, whereas for us, it is a collection of pets. We care about our animals and so it’s hard for us to understand the idea of not minding when things die. Perhaps we’re over-sensitive, but this guide is for those of you who really want a healthy little ecosystem teeming with life with which to commune.
To help you calibrate your understanding of our advice, we’ve created a page detailing our tank, the hardware we use and the live stock we currently have. This is important because not all rules will fit all tanks and larger tanks in particular are just different than small ones. Also, we’re raising a “peaceful” reef tank, and so have eschewed the more aggressive breeds like Fox-faces and Tangs in favour of Gobies, Dragonettes and Corals.
We hope that you find our website interesting and helpful! Please comment on our entries if you have something to share, since it is community information – even when it conflicts – that helps all of us to be better at this! Happy fish-farming!
Thanks,
Tom and Sarah Belknap
